Bulgarian Mint is commercial company responsible for production of legal tender coins of all denominations for general circulation on the territory of Republic of Bulgaria.

Bulgarian Mint is owned by The Bulgarian National Bank.

Bulgarian Mint is sole producer of commemorative coins, proof bullion and regular circulated coins issued by The Bulgarian National Bank as well as orders and official national insignias of honour.

 

History

Bulgarian Mint was established in 1952 and in the same year it delivered its first circulating coins with denominations of 1, 3, 5 bronze stotinkas and 10, 20 stotinkas made from cupro-nickel alloy.

In 1965 the first jubilees made by golden and silver alloy were minted. Since 1962 the number of manufacturing services has increased with new production – medals, orders, insignias of honour and badges..
